Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Lab Technician to support Quality Control product release testing in a regulated laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will perform routine histology procedures while maintaining compliance with quality standards and laboratory documentation requirements. This position requires strong technical expertise in tissue processing, specimen preparation, and laboratory operations. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives and collaborates with Quality, Research and Development, and other cross functional teams to ensure accurate and timely laboratory results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, catalog, and accession incoming tissue specimens while maintaining accurate identification throughout the testing process.
- Perform tissue preparation including rehydration, rinsing, fixation, tissue processing, paraffin embedding, cryo embedding, paraffin microtomy, and cryo microtomy.
- Perform Hematoxylin and Eosin staining as assigned based on training and qualifications.
- Document specimen observations, capture digital images, and maintain complete laboratory records following Good Documentation Practices.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot routine histology laboratory equipment and workstations.
- Prepare laboratory solutions and maintain adequate laboratory supplies.
- Perform block and slide verification activities to ensure specimen traceability and quality.
- Enter laboratory data into controlled databases, spreadsheets, and logbooks while following Standard Operating Procedures and cGxP requirements.
- Support complaint investigations, Research and Development activities, clinical studies, and Quality Control testing as assigned.
- Participate in peer review activities, maintain organized filing systems for blocks and slides, and support internal and external audits.
Required Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a histology laboratory.
- Hands on experience with tissue processing, paraffin embedding, cryo embedding, paraffin microtomy, and cryo microtomy.
- Experience with specimen accessioning and sample preparation.
- Knowledge of cGxP, Good Documentation Practices, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Experience maintaining laboratory documentation, databases, and logbooks.
- Ability to operate routine histology laboratory equipment.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience performing Hematoxylin and Eosin staining.
- Experience with histochemical staining techniques.
- Experience supporting Research and Development laboratories.
- Experience supporting complaint investigations or clinical studies.
- Experience participating in Quality Management System activities and laboratory audits.
