Job Description:
- The contingent worker will provide technical services in support of a Power Resiliency program as part of the GES Sustainability & Automation department.
- Work will focus on the planning, design, commissioning, and operational support of electrical infrastructure, backup power systems, and energy resiliency solutions across a distribution network, with a specific focus on either AMZL or a combination of NACF and NASC.
- The following paragraphs describe each applicable service area in detail.
Playbook Development and Equipment Validation:
- Assist in developing site-specific plans for backup generation implementation, called playbooks.
- Support coordination with internal teams, contractors, and utilities.
- Obtain site-specific information and establish communication with supporting entities while utilizing internal systems to track progress, create repositories, and identify gaps during system ramp-up.
- Obtain engineering drawings, line diagrams, and specifications from company-owned resources.
- Maintain active points of contact for sites, contractors, and utilities.
- Coordinate with site leadership, including Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME) and Operations personnel, to facilitate visits, equipment availability, and access to required areas.
Planned Backup Power Generation Process Development:
- Support planning, deployment, and operation of backup power generation across assigned business units.
- Develop and manage software systems to effectively track data, initiatives, assets, and issues.
- Communicate project status, risks, and blockers to applicable stakeholders in real time.
- During major events such as Prime, Peak, and summer/winter storm seasons, assist in executing power resiliency plans and processes.
Unplanned Backup Power Generation Process Development:
- Assist with coordinating backup power generation needs, including getting generation equipment to a site or making onsite backup generation operational.
- Coordinate communication with site personnel, internal teams, contractors, and utilities.
- When generation assets are staged, assist in coordinating their deployment as directed by the engagement manager and direct reports.
Documentation, Administration, and Reporting:
- Provide administrative support for ongoing power resiliency process development.
- Assist with reporting, tracking software, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), internal tools, and issue reporting.
- Work with external vendors to obtain required information.
- Analyze data to support white paper development and leadership-focused deliverables for executive decision-making.
Vendor & Contractor Interaction:
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and utility providers to obtain information and permissions related to site visits, equipment access, technical specifications, and other power resiliency requirements.
- Assist with administrative issues related to requisitions and purchase orders.
- Ensure all actions remain administrative and do not direct external entities to perform work that has not been previously approved.
Must-Have Skills:
- Electrical Engineering Degree
- Experience communicating with large groups
- Ability to work independently
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- 2–5 years of experience; additional experience is a plus
- Electrical design experience is a plus, including schematics and calculations
