Description:
  • The ideal candidate is an early-career to moderately experienced laboratory support professional who has hands-on experience working in a biotech, pharmaceutical, laboratory, or other regulated environment.
  • The strongest candidate will understand GxP/GMP-regulated laboratory practices and have experience supporting laboratory operations, particularly temperature-controlled equipment, sample management, freezer/sample transfers, equipment maintenance or calibration coordination, and documentation. This is a hands-on lab operations/support position rather than a research scientist role.
  • The individual does not need extensive scientific research experience or an advanced degree. Most of the position-specific equipment and processes can be taught.  The manager is particularly interested in someone who combines laboratory experience with a customer-service mindset.
  • The Operations group supports internal scientists, so the candidate needs to be responsive, approachable, organized, and comfortable helping scientists resolve day-to-day operational needs.
  • The person must also be comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously, following established procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, and communicating issues such as temperature alarms to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Candidates with previous sample management, freezer management, temperature-controlled storage, or sample transfer experience is also highly desired.
Functions
  • Begins to become trained in Level II GLPs (if required).Read and train on area specific SOPs.
  • Provides basic laboratory support functions including stocking and distributing supplies and equipment;
  • Learns to follow Site guidelines, policies, and procedures, including lab regulations.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and records..
  • Begins to demonstrate accountability for quality of product and services to minimize impact to functional areas.
  • Begins to interact with the clients for needs assessment.
  • Possess basic computer operation skills.
  • Good comprehension and communication skills (both written and oral).Possess basic organizational and time management skills.
  • May serve as designee for GLP equipment and areas and learns work order system (if required).
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of site guidelines, policies, and procedures, including lab regulations.
  • Participates and contributes to group and project meetings.
  • Participates and contributes to group and project meetings.
  • Performs problem resolution, including identifying problems and offering solutions.

  • Organization / Project Coordination: Candidate must be able to manage numerous activities at once, including equipment schedules, alarms, documentation, sample activities, and requests from scientists.
  • Attention to Detail: Important because the technician will work with regulated equipment, samples, maintenance/calibration records, and documentation.
  • Teamwork: Must work effectively within an Operations organization and with the scientists the team supports.
  • Documentation: Candidate should be comfortable following procedures and accurately documenting activities, particularly within a regulated environment.
  • Basic Computer Skills: Standard workplace computer skills such as MS Word and similar tools are sufficient. No specialized software expertise was identified as mandatory.
Salary and Other Compensation:
