Job Summary:
The Scientist II will support cell line engineering and biotherapeutics discovery activities within a research-focused laboratory environment. This role will be responsible for mammalian cell culture, cell line development, cellular assays, flow cytometry, and inventory management initiatives. The position offers opportunities to contribute to advanced cell and molecular biology applications while supporting critical therapeutic development programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mammalian cell culture activities using immortalized, cancer, and primary cell lines
- Generate, maintain, expand, and bank cell lines to support antibody discovery and assay development
- Execute cell line engineering activities including knockout, knock-in, and overexpression cell line development
- Conduct cell-based assays and support experimental data generation
- Perform flow cytometry analysis, cell sorting, and characterization studies
- Assist with technology development initiatives related to cell line engineering
- Maintain laboratory inventories and coordinate cell line asset management activities
- Support sample digitization efforts and consolidation of cell line assets into digital inventory systems
- Coordinate cell line inventory stocks across multiple research locations
- Follow laboratory procedures and maintain accurate experimental documentation
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline
- 3 to 5 years of industry or relevant laboratory experience
- Hands-on experience with Mammalian Cell Culture
- Experience in Cell Line Engineering
- Knowledge of Flow Cytometry and cell sorting techniques
- Experience performing Cell-Based Assays
- Hands-on experience with CRISPR/Cas9 Gene Editing
- Strong understanding of cell and molecular biology techniques
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment
- Strong documentation, organization, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting biotherapeutic discovery or development programs
- Knowledge of receptor density quantification techniques
- Experience with vector design and genome engineering technologies
- Familiarity with cell cloning and cell bank establishment activities
- Prior experience working in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry setting
