Pay Range: $25/hr to $30/hr

Location: Des Plaines, IL 60018

Work Type: Onsite

Contract Duration: 12 Months with possible extension

Job Summary:
The Scientist I will support technical product activities within a medical devices environment with a primary focus on oligonucleotide manufacturing, characterization, validation, and product support. The role will perform hands on laboratory work, analytical testing, experimental execution, data analysis, and technical documentation. The scientist will work under the guidance of senior team members while supporting product testing, characterization, development, and continuous improvement activities. This position requires strong laboratory skills, attention to detail, effective documentation practices, and the ability to collaborate across scientific and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support for diagnostic products under the guidance of senior scientific team members.
• Assist with experimental design and execution while performing testing using analytical chemistry instruments.
• Conduct hands on wet laboratory activities supporting product testing, characterization, and development.
• Support oligonucleotide manufacturing, characterization, validation, and continuous improvement activities.
• Analyze laboratory data and prepare clear summaries of experimental results.
• Apply quality system requirements, change control processes, and technical impact assessments.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and cross functional partners to investigate technical documentation and product related issues.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and technical documentation in accordance with established procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, organic chemistry, or a related scientific or technical discipline.
• Hands on wet laboratory experience.
• Strong problem solving, organizational, and data analysis skills.
• Ability to perform laboratory testing and analyze experimental data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross functional team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a scientific or technical discipline.
• Knowledge of GMP, ISO, and FDA regulations.
• Working knowledge of oligonucleotide chemistry and laboratory techniques.
• Experience with oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, analytical characterization, or assay development.
• Experience with small molecule chemistry or related wet laboratory techniques.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, validation, characterization, or continuous improvement activities.
