  • Client is expanding their data center presence in Canada and growing their team; they need a manager to oversee the team of data center technicians and lead the operations of client's datacenter infrastructure and team
     
Mission/ Expected to accomplish:
  • Ensuring stability, performance, security, compliance, and continuous improvement of cloud infrastructure and services while meeting customer SLAs.
     
Project/initiative they will be supporting:
  • No Specific project - Ongoing operation and continuous improvement of a critical datacenter environment.
  • Infrastructure lifecycle management, including upgrades, renewals, deployments, and decommissioning.
  • Improvement of datacenter monitoring, availability, security, compliance, and operational procedures.
  • Customer and hosting-provider initiatives involving electrical connections, cabling, remote/on-site support, and infrastructure projects.
  • Maintaining 24/7/365 service availability and responsiveness to customer requirements.
Expectations :
  • Ensure reliable 24/7/365 operation of datacenter infrastructure and services.
  • Lead and manage the datacenter operations team. (5 direct reports including expansion and growth)
  • Involved in hiring as they continue to grow in Sherbrooke, leading projects and expansion of 14 megawat
  • Opening a new site in Montreal
  • Maintain infrastructure availability and meet established SLAs.
  • Improve preventive maintenance, monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis processes.
  • Ensure compliance with MOP, SOP, and EOP procedures.
  • Manage infrastructure security, vulnerabilities, upgrades, and compliance audits.
  • Maintain accurate DCIM/IPAM infrastructure records.
  • Manage vendors, suppliers, technical partners, and service providers.
  • Support budgeting, contract management, and infrastructure projects.
  • Build strong customer relationships and report on KPIs, SLAs, and service performance.
  • Develop team members, establish objectives, manage performance, and promote a collaborative work environment.
 
Day-to-day responsibilities:
  • Ensuring team has support
  • Process improvements
  • Ensuring conversion of room, insulation of generators, networking and vendor management.
  • Supervise daily operations of critical datacenter infrastructure, including UPS, generators, chillers, precision cooling, and ancillary systems.
  • Manage, coach, and develop the datacenter team.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure security and vulnerability management.
  • Experience with incident management and root-cause analysis.
  • Managing Safety protocols, COE
 
Must-haves:
  • Experience managing and leading technical teams min 5 direct reports
  • 1-3  years of supervising/ managing people
  • Background in networking in a data center including HVAC, UPS, electrical pannel
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical/electrical datacenter systems (BMS, CMMS, and EPMS systems.)
  • Hardware and infrastructure knowledge. (cooling systems, operating systems, cloud computing, and virtualization.)
  • Bilingual in French - Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
 
 
Plusses:
  • Experience in a cloud/datacenter service-provider environment. - Estruxture, Vantage, Hypertec, AWS
  • Experience managing customer-facing infrastructure services and SLAs.
  • Experience with DCIM/IPAM platforms.
  • Experience with MOP/SOP/EOP processes.
  • Experience managing infrastructure suppliers and contracts.
  • Experience with datacenter lifecycle planning and MEP projects.
  • Experience supporting compliance audits.
  • Experience working with hosting providers and third-party technical partners.
  • French/English bilingual capability may be advantageous given the Quebec location, although the posting does not explicitly state this as a requirement.
