Job Summary:
The Chemist will support formulation and product development activities for topical skincare and personal care products. The role will focus on preparing laboratory batches and conducting formulation experiments. The Chemist will perform sample testing, stability studies, and laboratory analysis. The position will also support raw material management, product documentation, pilot activities, and scale up. The ideal candidate will have hands on cosmetic or skincare formulation experience and strong laboratory skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare laboratory batches for emulsions, gels, serums, cleansers, creams, and other topical formulations.
- Conduct formulation experiments and support product and process development activities.
- Perform stability testing and evaluate samples for pH, viscosity, appearance, and other product characteristics.
- Operate laboratory equipment and perform routine laboratory testing and analysis.
- Manage raw material inventories and maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Support package functionality testing and product compatibility evaluations.
- Prepare and maintain formulation, batch, and technical documentation.
- Support pilot scale, manufacturing scale up, and related documentation activities.
- Collaborate with scientists and cross functional teams to support multiple formulation projects.
Required Qualifications:
- 1 to 3 or more years of experience in cosmetic, skincare, personal care, or OTC formulation.
- Hands on experience preparing formulation batches.
- Experience with emulsions, gels, serums, cleansers, creams, or similar topical formulations.
- Experience with stability testing, pH, and viscosity testing.
- Working knowledge of common laboratory methods and laboratory equipment.
- Familiarity with GMP and GLP practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with formulation scale up and manufacturing.
- Experience supporting pilot batches or technology transfer activities.
- Experience with package functionality or packaging compatibility testing.
- Experience with microscopy and related laboratory analysis.
