Job Title: Associate Scientist
Location: Thousand Oaks, CA 91320
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week
Contract: Initial assignment, with possible extension
Interview: Phone/Teams; possible panel interview with the full team
Pay Rate : $20.00 - 23.00 per hour 

 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree, OR Bachelor’s + 2 years of experience, OR
  • Associate’s + 4 years, OR
  • High school/GED + 6 years
  • Preferred degrees: Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field.

  • Modern AI & programming: Claude Code, Codex, Databricks, Python, or similar tools.
  • Statistical analysis: Experience with statistical analysis software and data processing.
  • Laboratory/sample preparation: Strong hands-on experience with manual and/or automated sample preparation.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Characterize pre-clinical monoclonal antibody drug candidates using LC and mass spectrometry.
  • Prepare mAb samples through reduction, alkylation, and enzymatic digestion.
  • Perform LC-MS/MS peptide mapping and analyze data for PTM identification and quantification.
  • Develop software/data-processing tools for mass spectrometry data aggregation, reporting, and post-processing.
  • Use Python and modern AI/programming tools to improve analytical workflows.
  • Support automation of sample preparation and peptide digestion using Hamilton liquid handlers.
  • Perform LC-UV-MS characterization of intact mAbs.
  • Conduct mass deconvolution and identify mAb forms and fragments.
  • Generate scientific data supporting regulatory submissions, patents, and publications.
  • Evaluate emerging MS-based technologies for therapeutic protein characterization.
  • Document, present, and communicate scientific findings in a multidisciplinary environment.

 Best-fit candidate:

  • A Scientist/Associate Scientist with a background in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or protein characterization, with hands-on LC-MS/MS and mAb characterization experience plus strong Python/statistical/data-processing skills.
Major selling point:
  • This is not a traditional wet-lab-only Associate Scientist role. The strongest candidates will combine biotherapeutic mass spectrometry + laboratory sample preparation + data analysis/programming + modern AI tools.
