  • Brand new position created to add engineering capacity as the Manufacturing Test Engineering organization expands.
  • Team is responsible for defining the overall manufacturing test architecture, technologies, methodologies, and specifications used across  production environment.
  • Increasing scope of work requires additional hands-on engineering support to develop, deploy, validate, and maintain manufacturing test systems.
  • Team is currently designing and building the test architecture framework that will be deployed across multiple manufacturing stations and contract manufacturers (CMs) both domestically and internationally.
  • Need additional support to help validate software frameworks, test strategies, and manufacturing test equipment before deployment into the field.

About the Team

  • Team owns the manufacturing test architecture for  electronics and battery systems.
  • Responsible for defining manufacturing test technologies, test methodologies, test coverage requirements, and validation standards.
  • Supports approximately 15 different manufacturing test stations and levels throughout the production process.
  • Works closely with Electrical Engineering, Firmware, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and external contract manufacturers.
  • Team partners with external consultants and vendors to deploy manufacturing test systems globally.

Mission / About the Role

  • Seeking a hands-on FCT Test Development Engineer to develop, deploy, and support automated manufacturing test systems used to validate electronic assemblies and system-level products. This engineer will help execute the test architecture defined by the Manufacturing Test Engineering team, developing Functional Circuit Test (FCT) and End-of-Line (EOL) solutions that ensure product quality, reliability, and manufacturability as scales production. This is a highly execution-focused role requiring strong expertise in LabVIEW, TestStand, manufacturing automation, embedded communication protocols, and production test development.

Top 3 Qualifications / Responsibilities:

  1. Develop automated manufacturing test systems using NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand.
    • Design, build, troubleshoot, and deploy FCT and EOL test stations for production environments.
  2. Support manufacturing test architecture and test execution.
    • Implement test specifications, test coverage requirements, acceptance criteria, and validation methodologies defined by the Manufacturing Test Engineering team.
  3. Develop and validate production-ready test solutions.
    • Work with internal engineering teams, external vendors, and contract manufacturers to ensure test systems are scalable, reliable, and ready for deployment globally.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Test Development

  • Develop automated manufacturing test applications using NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand.
  • Create and maintain functional test sequences for PCBAs and system-level assemblies.
  • Design and support automated test fixtures and test equipment integration.

Architecture & Test Reviews

  • Review manufacturing test specifications and test architecture documentation.
  • Provide technical feedback and identify opportunities to improve test coverage and reliability.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to validate manufacturing test frameworks and software tools.

Manufacturing Support

  • Support NPI builds, production ramp activities, and manufacturing troubleshooting.
  • Investigate test failures and perform root cause analysis.
  • Improve test station uptime, diagnostics, and manufacturing efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Electrical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contract manufacturers on test equipment deployment and validation activities.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).

Required Qualifications / Must-Haves:

  • 3+ years of manufacturing test engineering experience (5+ preferred).
  • Strong hands-on experience with: NI LabVIEW & NI TestStand (biggest must-have).
  • Experience developing automated manufacturing test systems.
  • Experience supporting Functional Circuit Test (FCT) and/or End-of-Line (EOL) testing.
  • Understanding of embedded and manufacturing communication protocols such as:CAN / CAN-FD, SPI, I2C, Iso SPI, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, TCP/IP.
  • Experience working with automated test instrumentation: DAQs, Power supplies, Oscilloscopes, DMMs, Electronic loads.
  • Experience with manufacturing automation and production test environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

Preferred Qualifications / Nice-to-Haves:

  • NI VeriStand
  • Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing experience.
  • Python scripting and automation.
  • Experience using Python to analyze manufacturing test data and identify trends/correlations.
  • Experience integrating test systems with MES platforms and production databases.
  • Familiarity with AOI, AXI, ICT, or Flying Probe inspection technologies.
  • Experience with Minitab, MSA, or statistical process analysis tools.
  • CLD or CLA LabVIEW certifications.
