Fire Protection Engineer Position Description

Client's Factory Engineering team is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the multidisciplinary infrastructure team supporting Terafab, the groundbreaking semiconductor fabrication initiative and other major manufacturing facilities in Texas. This role will help project design for compliance with UL requirements by local building and planning departments for projects in Texas. This role includes the development of fire protection report and coordination with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) on permit approval and acceptance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and create fire protection reports for new production lines, materials, suppression, and detection systems coming to the factory
  • Develop and create a complete set of code analysis and reports for permit documents for various site projects, including but not limited high-piled storage analysis, chemical hazard analysis, and Hazard Analysis
  • Develop and summit AM&M (alternate means & methods) to local AHJ to help with performance-based design criteria to meet the intent of code
  • Code planning /life safety design (schematic design through commissioning)
  • Implementation and inspections of specialty systems implementation
  • Develop process improvements, workflows, and templates to increase design productivity and quality of deliverables

Requirements

  • Degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an ABET accredited program, or equivalent experience
  • Licensed Fire Protection Engineer 5+ years relevant experience required
  • Experience working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to organize time and tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines
  • Familiar with fire protection systems and fire smoke detection systems
  • Must be self-motivated and thrive in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
